Hello and welcome to Figuring Skating. My name is Leif Hafstrom and I’m a competitive figure skater and figure skating coach. I decided to start this blog as way to reach out to the figure skating community and discuss the various aspects of training, competing and participating in figure skating today.
With the evolution of the sport, particularly in the past decade, I felt the best way for me to continue to educate and expand my knowledge on the sport was to immerse myself in it. After 8 competitive seasons off, I decided to return to competitive figure skating as a source of inspiration for myself and my blog. This was a hard choice to make after such a long time off from competing, but I’ve enjoyed the sport my entire life, the challenges associated with it, and the process of overcoming them.
I would like to use this blog as a forum of discussion for the modern challenges facing all figures skaters today. I encourage all of my readers to feel free to add to the discussion and help shape the direction that it goes.
With such an ambitious goal outlined in my first post, I think it’s important to discuss the importance of goals, so my second post will tackle the topic of goal setting.
